Ruben Amorim, the newly appointed head coach of Manchester United, has cautioned fans to temper their expectations as he prepares to take charge of the team.
Amorim, who will officially begin his role on November 11, delivered the message following his last home game with Sporting CP, a 4-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City.
The 39-year-old manager leaves Sporting at the top of the Portuguese league and in a strong position in the Champions League, sparking excitement among United fans eager to see what he can bring to Old Trafford.
However, Amorim was quick to remind supporters that Manchester United will require a different approach.
“We cannot transport one reality to another context,” Amorim stated.
“Manchester United cannot play the way we play, they cannot play so defensively, and we will have to adapt ourselves.”
Amorim’s success with Sporting has built high expectations among United supporters, who are hoping he can rejuvenate their team after recent struggles. Yet, the incoming coach emphasized that adjusting to the Premier League will require changes in tactics and style.
