Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South, has officially announced his bid for the 2025 Anambra governorship election, Okay.ng reports.

Ubah, who previously contested in the 2021 Anambra governorship election and secured the fourth position, is now seeking the support of the people for his upcoming bid.

The senator addressed journalists in Nnewi on Sunday, expressing his determination to bring about positive change in Anambra if elected as governor.

He touched upon the recent suspension of Damian Ezeani, a traditional ruler of the Neni community, who conferred a chieftaincy title on Ubah.

The suspension, later reversed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, was described by Ubah as unacceptable.

Ubah emphasized that if elected, he would prioritize the conduct of local government area (LGA) elections within four months.

This, he believes, will encourage political participation and autonomy at the grassroots level.

In his words, “All I ask for is one term of four years. I promise to conduct a local government area election within four months of the election.

“At the moment, I rate governance in Anambra for the past 18 years at 20 percent. I will bring 80 percent content that has never been discussed in governance.

“I have a burning desire to contest the next governorship election in Anambra because this government and those before it have not been able to put the state in the development trajectory that our people desire.

“We need to create support for our commerce, we have to develop our sector to make it a hub for health tourists and accelerate community development through local government elections.

“Voting for people with over-bloated personalities and structure has failed us.

“It is time we vote for people with passion, people with a track record. That is what I represent.

“I am prepared to change the narrative, and that is why my manifesto has remained the same from 2013 till date.”
