An attack by gunmen along the Takum-Wukari road in Taraba State has resulted in the deaths of a lecturer at the Federal University Wukari, a deputy registrar of Taraba State School of Health Technology, Takum, and several others. The incident occurred early Monday morning.
According to DSP Kwache Gambo, acting Police Public Relations Officer for the Taraba police command, the victims included a secondary school principal who was on his way to report to his new posting in Wukari Local Government Area. The lecturer from the Federal University Wukari was also among the victims, returning to Wukari after spending the weekend with his family in Takum.
The attack has caused tension in the community, with soldiers deployed to patrol the area and calm the situation. The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, but reports suggest that at least seven travelers were killed in the attack.
