Gunmen have kidnapped an expatriate contractor working on the Lagos State Government’s dualisation of the Epe Township Expansion project in Epe, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
PM News authoritatively gathered that the expatriate, one of the contractors from the Granebury Construction, the company handling the Epe Township project was kidnapped on Monday evening while working on the site.
A source in Epe confided in PM News that the police have mounted aerial surveillance in Epe in a bid to rescue the kidnapped contractor.
An armoured tank had been stationed at the project site as police officers mounted surveillance in the area.
A police source also told our reporter that the expatriate, whose name has not been gotten was kidnapped yesterday evening and that his whereabouts is still yet unknown, but that the police had engaged in serious manhunt for the kidnappers.
When contacted, the Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ganiu Johnson refused to comment on the matter.
He said it was improper and unethical for him to grant interviews on phone to somebody he did not know.
But a top source in the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure confirmed the kidnap of the expatriate contractor, adding that the state government had been duly informed about the kidnap.
The government source said the state government had informed the police and that all efforts were being made to rescue the kidnapped foreign contractor.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmus asked our reporter to send him a text, but she never replied the text message sent to her phone as at the time of filing this report.
