Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd (GTBank) has responded to recent media reports claiming that hackers have seized the bank’s website, cloned it, and intercepted customer data.

In an official statement, the bank clarified that while there was an isolated incident involving an attempt to compromise its website domain, there has been no cloning of the website, nor any compromise of customer data.

“We would like to assure all our Customers and Stakeholders that the Bank’s website has not been cloned and that we do not store customer information on our website, and as such, there has been no instance of compromise of customer data,” the statement read.

The bank assured its customers and stakeholders that its dedicated team of Information Security Experts is working around the clock to restore domain settings and ensure that the website will be back online shortly.
