Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has enacted a significant bill on Wednesday, paving the way for a revised retirement age of 65 years and an extended service tenure from 35 to 40 years for teachers employed within the state’s government schools.

Expressing his endorsement of the bill passed by the Imo State House of Assembly, Governor Uzodimma highlighted the importance of the legislation in elevating the service period for teachers. “In exercising my constitutional powers as outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (As Amended), I find no objection in assenting to this bill,” stated Uzodimma.

The governor underscored the bill’s significance in fostering teacher motivation and dedication within the public school system. He emphasized its role in providing job security and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of teachers in their roles.

Governor Uzodimma conveyed his congratulations to the teaching community, aiming to inspire a sense of job security and commitment among them.
