A former Inspector General of Police, Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta, is dead.
According to report, Jimeta, who hails from Adamawa state, died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja.
The former police boss was appointed in 1986 to succeed Etim Inyang and was succeeded by Aliyu Attah in 1990.
Jimeta was also a National Security Adviser (NSA) to former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida.
The death of the former police boss brings to three the number of prominent personalities from the state to die this week.
Abdulrahman Abba, the Chief of Staff to Governor Mohammed Jibrilla, died in Saudi Arabia on Monday while a former first lady of the state, Zainab Nyako, also died early Wednesday in Yola.
