The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25th, Thursday, December 26th, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations respectively.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Sunday.
In the statement, the Minister urged Nigerians to use the festive season to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity, which are central to the celebrations.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal,” the statement read.
“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo added.
He emphasized the importance of the holidays as a time to foster harmony, strengthen family bonds, and promote peace within communities.
The Federal Government encouraged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of the season by reflecting on its significance and contributing positively to building a united and prosperous nation.
