The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced that Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, will be observed as public holidays nationwide in celebration of Eid-ul-Adha.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who issued a statement on behalf of the government.

In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and the Diaspora, urging the Muslim community to continue embracing the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He emphasized the importance of these virtues during the sacred festival.

The minister also called on all Nigerians to use the Eid period to pray for the country’s peace, unity, and prosperity. “The minister assured Nigerians that the people-oriented reforms and initiatives carried out in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration are aimed at restoring Nigeria on the path of progress,” the statement added.
