The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has named Thomas Matthew Crooks as the gunman who fired shots at the rally of former President Donald Trump.

The incident occurred on Saturday during Trump’s campaign rally, resulting in injuries to the former president.

According to the FBI, Crooks is a 20-year-old male from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The bureau has classified the incident as an assassination attempt.

“The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania,” the bureau announced on Sunday.

The FBI has urged anyone with information, video, or pictures related to the shooting to come forward. Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh office, provided a contact number and a dedicated website for tips: www.FBI.gov/Butler.

Following the shooting, Trump was quickly flown back to New Jersey, with his plane landing early Sunday morning. The former president was delivering a speech when the shots were fired, resulting in an immediate evacuation by his security team.

The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from world leaders. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the shooting an “inexcusable attack,” while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his dismay, stating that “violence has no justification and no place anywhere in the world.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also voiced his concern, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured, and the American people.”
