A touching incident occurred at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, on Friday when Adamu Muhammed Tenimu fainted upon hearing the news that his wife had given birth to triplets. The three baby girls were delivered safely, but the overwhelming news caused the father to collapse.

According to eyewitnesses, the moment the man was informed of the triplets’ birth, he slumped, overcome by emotion. Hospital personnel and sympathizers quickly came to his aid and revived him. The mother and her newborns are reported to be in stable condition.

Muhammed, who is currently unemployed, spoke candidly about his feelings after regaining consciousness. “I thank God for this miracle, but I am confused and sad. I didn’t know we were expecting triplets. Right now, we don’t even have the means and financial capacity to pay the hospital bills, let alone care for three babies at once,” he said tearfully.

He revealed that financial constraints had prevented regular prenatal scans, and the family had only prepared for one child. “This blessing is huge, but so is the burden. I don’t even have money to buy diapers or baby food. I don’t know where to start,” he added.

Onlookers and family members have appealed for urgent assistance, highlighting the need for medical supplies, nutrition, and financial aid. “The babies are healthy, but this family needs help. We are calling on the government, NGOs, religious groups, and well-meaning Nigerians to support them,” a relative said.

Friends and colleagues have also launched a campaign to support the family. Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague, urged the Kogi State Government and social agencies to provide assistance, praising Muhammed’s character.

The triplets, weighing between 1.8kg and 2.3kg, are currently receiving care in the neonatal unit and are reportedly doing well.
