Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has claimed victory in a closely contested U.S. presidential election against Vice-President Kamala Harris.
Addressing supporters in Florida, Trump declared that his presidency would usher in a “golden age of America,” following projected wins in key battleground states, including Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
As of the latest projections, Trump has secured 267 electoral college votes, just shy of the 270 votes required to claim the presidency officially.
In his victory speech, Trump spoke of his administration’s vision for a “safe and strong” America, emphasizing his commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges. “This was a movement like nobody has seen before,” Trump stated. “I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time in this country and maybe beyond, and now it is going to reach a new level of importance because we have to help our country heal.”
The former president, who previously served as the 45th president, expressed his gratitude for what he described as an extraordinary honor to lead the nation once again. “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president,” he said. “To every citizen, I will fight for you and your future. Every single day, I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body.”
In a speech laced with promises, Trump vowed to secure the country’s borders and tackle pressing national issues. “We made history for a reason tonight and we overcame obstacles nobody thought possible,” he continued. “This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.”
Trump concluded by pledging to deliver a prosperous America, marking what he envisions as a transformative era for the nation. “This will truly be the golden age of America,” he declared, promising to work tirelessly toward a stronger, safer future for the American people.
