Nigerian disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has undergone baptism at the Holy Trinity Brompton in London, United Kingdom.
The 31-year-old, who is the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, shared the news of her spiritual transformation with her followers on Instagram on Friday.
Baptism, a Christian sacrament involving the ceremonial use of water, symbolizes the individual’s acceptance of Christ and commitment to a new life in faith.
DJ Cuppy expressed profound joy and fulfillment in taking this significant step in her spiritual journey, describing it as “the best decision of my life.”
In her heartfelt post, she shared photos from the baptismal ceremony, accompanied by a message reflecting on the deep meaning of the ritual.
“This summer, I made the best decision of my life to fully dedicate my life to God,” she wrote.
“Baptism isn’t just a ceremony; it’s a transformation. I am a new creation, reborn in His grace. The way to live is actually to die.”
Cuppy emphasized that while she remains dedicated to her career as a disc jockey, her life now holds “a deeper meaning.”
She continued, “Of course I am still DJ Cuppy, but now every moment, every beat has a deeper meaning. I see life in a new, brighter light.”
Reflecting on her newfound purpose, Cuppy noted that her baptism has brought clarity to her life, stating, “At 31, I finally understand what it really means to live a purpose-driven life.
Every day, I learn to live with intention, guided by something bigger than myself. Thank you, Father, for your salvation.”
DJ Cuppy, who began her career in 2014 as the resident DJ at the MTV Africa Music Awards, has since gained recognition not only as a DJ but also as an artiste, with hit songs such as ‘Gelato’, ‘Green Light’, ‘Vybe’, ‘Currency’, and ‘Jollof On The Jet’.
In addition to her music career, she recently ventured into acting.
In October 2021, DJ Cuppy commenced a master’s degree program in African Studies at Oxford University, from which she graduated in March 2023.
