Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone is disappointed with Antoine Griezmann over his decision to leave the club this summer.

On Tuesday, the French World Cup winner made an announcement of his departure through Atletico Madrid’s Twitter handle.

He said in the tweet attached with a video:

It has been five incredible years, thank you very much for everything, I carry you in my heart.

Meanwhile, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has now opened up on Simeone’s response to the news Griezmann will be leaving his side.

Speaking at a radio show, Cerezo said:

Simeone is disappointed, like the others,

He was determined to leave and there was no chance of convincing him.

I don’t know or care [who Griezmann’s next team will be]. But when a team wants to pay a release clause, it’s normal to communicate and we haven’t received any messages from anyone just yet.

Wherever he goes, I hope that he is treated the same as he was here… and good luck!

However, Okay Nigeria understand that Barcelona are in works of signing the French player for a sum of €120m (£104m).
