A 36-year-old woman, Ekene Chroma, from Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area, and Okafor Jonathan, a native of Onicha-Ugbo in the same LGA, have been apprehended by security operatives in Delta State over suspected involvement in gun running. The duo, both residents of Okpanam, were arrested in a sting operation executed by the CP Special Assignment Team in the Okpanam area of Asaba.

The arrest, confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, was made public through an official statement on Monday. During a search, officers recovered two English single-barrel pistols and 110 live cartridges from the suspects.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that they were suspected of being involved in the business of gun running. The suspects and exhibits are presently in custody while the investigation is ongoing,” Edafe stated.

In a related development, acting on credible intelligence regarding cultist activities in Mosogar and its environs, the CP-Special Assignment Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, raided the residence of one Koko Josh. The operation resulted in the recovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition, two locally made guns, and eight rounds of live cartridges. Multiple phones, a laptop, and some fetish substances were also seized.
