The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command has arrested two men in connection with the murder of four people of Northern origin in the state.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement released by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka.

He said: “The Delta Police Command in the early hours of Saturday arrested two suspects namely: Abraham Ndudi, 24, from Kwale, Delta State; and Okereke Ifeanyi, 21, from Ogbaru in Anambra State for their involvement in the dastardly shooting and killing of four persons at Abraka Market, Asaba.

“The suspects, who were arrested from their hiding places, are already helping the police in their investigation. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to arrest the third suspect, whose real name is yet unknown but simply identified as ‘Last Burial’.”

The men were killed on Friday when gunmen attacked a Hausa settlement near popular Abraka market in Asaba.

The attack, coming at a time of high tribal tensions in the country, has sparked tension in the area as the fear of reprisal is palpable.

Security operatives – the police, army and DSS – have been deployed to the area to stave this possibility.

The deceased are three men, a woman and a teenager, sources told Sunday Punch.
