The Abia state commissioner of Police, Anthony Ogbizi, on Saturday said possession of Biafran flag or emblem is now a criminal offence.
He declared that anybody caught in possession of such materials within the state would be arrested and prosecuted.
The commissioner stated this in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, when he paraded some outlawed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at the state police headquarters.
According to the commissioner, this is in accordance with the ban placed on the activities of the pro-Biafran group by Southeastern governors.
He also stressed that it has become ”illegal for anyone to operate under IPOB or adorn its emblems” which was recently declared a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian military.
