The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has confirmed the release of three abducted students who were held captive for three weeks, thanking security agencies and parents for their collaborative efforts.
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the safe release of three students who were kidnapped from their hostels approximately three weeks ago.
According to a statement by the school’s Public Relations Officer, Effiong Eyo, the abducted students have been reunited with their families unharmed.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, expressed gratitude to the security agencies in the state for their concerted efforts and cooperation, which ultimately led to the students’ release.
Prof. Obi also commended the parents of the abducted students for their unwavering support and collaboration with the school management throughout the ordeal.
In light of this incident, Prof. Obi advised all students on campus to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the school’s security personnel promptly.
The kidnapped students have been identified as Ojang Precious Ebejin, Ugwu Chukwuemeka, and Damilola Dickson, all of whom are students of various departments at UNICAL.
