Popular Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has opened up about her decision not to pursue another romantic relationship, attributing it to the passing of her “forever love.”
In a recent interview with actor Emmanuel Ehumadu, the 54-year-old actress candidly discussed her views on marriage and why she remains unmarried.
When asked about her marital status, Akintola revealed that she is not married, stating, “He died.” She explained that after taking a long time to find the person she could spend forever with, she tragically lost him.
“I don’t talk about it, but he died. Do you know how long it took me to find him? A very long time, but he is gone,” Akintola shared. “I don’t believe that you get married just for marriage’s sake. If you are not going to be truthful to your vows, then why are you doing it? The person I could do forever with is gone.”
Akintola emphasized the importance of being true to herself and her values, stating that she would not marry simply to conform to societal expectations.
“I am too old to ignore red flags, and I am too old to do things just to make others happy. Who are those people? To make the world happy, I should marry someone so the world can say ‘you don do am’? It doesn’t make sense. I don’t care, I really don’t care. I won’t do that for anybody.”
Despite her personal loss, Akintola acknowledged that she still believes in marriage but would only consider it if she finds someone with whom she sees a future.
“If I ever see someone, and I see forever with that person, I will do it—even if I am 82,” she stated. “But I won’t do it if I don’t see that person. Marriage is difficult, and you should only do it with someone you know you can do forever with.”
