Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed the payment of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 to state and local government workers.

According to the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, state government workers will receive the new minimum wage from August 2024, while local government workers will benefit from September 2024.

The implementation of the new minimum wage will follow the consequential adjustment table used in 2019, pending the release of the table from the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission. Governor Fintiri has demonstrated his commitment to workers’ welfare by approving the new minimum wage ahead of the release of the national table.

This development is expected to improve the livelihoods of workers in Adamawa State, with the state government leading the way in implementing the new national minimum wage.
