Nollywood actress Empress Njamah has issued a strong denial of rumors that she is engaged, and has accused her alleged fiancé of physically assaulting her.
In a shocking livestream on her business Instagram account on Friday, Njamah revealed the disturbing details of her experience with the man, who she said is from Liberia.
According to Njamah, the man had pretended to want to marry her and had taken advantage of her vulnerability after the death of a friend.
She said that she had been speaking to the man on the phone for months and had even spoken to people she believed to be his relatives. However, it turns out that everything was a scam, and the man had ulterior motives for entering her life.
Njamah claimed that the man had held her hostage, beaten her, and used naked videos of her to blackmail her into staying with him.
She said that the man had turned into an “animal,” physically assaulting her and even locking her up in her own home.
Njamah added that the man had taken her car, passport, money, and valuables, and had threatened to release more videos if she told anyone about the abuse.
The actress also revealed that the man had changed the passwords to all of her accounts and phones, and had logged her out of every email she had.
He had even taken control of her iCloud, leaving her with no access to her own information. Despite all of this, Njamah said that she was grateful to be alive and able to tell her story.
She said that she had managed to run away from the man one night and had fallen into a gutter, but had managed to find a mallam who gave her a phone to call her brother for help.
In the livestream, Njamah said that the engagement video on her personal page was made under duress and that she had been scammed and abused by the man.
She said that she was no longer in control of her own page and that the video had been posted by the man without her consent.
Njamah added that her fans had noticed a change in her social life and had asked if she was okay, but she had been unable to speak out about the abuse she was suffering.
