Nigeria’s leading indigenous telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom, has announced its renewed commitment to sponsoring the 2023 edition of the renowned Ojude Oba Festival, one of the country’s most significant cultural events.

The festival takes place two days after the Id-El-Kabir festival, and it has been a cornerstone of Ijebuland’s cultural heritage for many years.

Globacom has been the main sponsor of the Ojude Oba Festival for nearly two decades, continuously elevating its status and drawing attention and visitors to Ijebuland during this vibrant celebration.

At a pre-event press conference held at the majestic Awujale Palace in Ijebu Ode, Mr. Sola Mogaji, representing the company, delivered a speech highlighting Globacom’s continued involvement and the festival’s theme for this year: “OJUDE OBA: A LESSON IN RELIGIOUS HARMONY.” This theme underscores the significance of religion and unity in Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of Globacom, Mr. Mogaji explained that the collaboration with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee demonstrates the company’s unwavering commitment to honoring and supporting the cherished cultures, traditions, and customs of Nigerians.

“Our collaboration with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee aims to celebrate the unique traditions of the Ijebu people while simultaneously advancing the cause of tourism, which Ojude Oba has championed for over a century. This internationally acclaimed festival attracts tourists from various parts of Nigeria and the diaspora,” stated Globacom.

The company firmly believes that legendary festivals like Ojude Oba possess the potential to boost Nigeria’s tourism industry and foster unity among diverse nationalities.

Dr. Fassy Adetokunbo Yusuff, the Coordinator of the 2023 Ojude Oba Planning Committee, expressed deep appreciation for Globacom’s consistent support throughout the years.

He emphasized that the festival is more than just a grand display of opulence by the sons and daughters of Ijebuland; it is also a time for indigenes to reunite and extend warm hospitality to friends, families, and visitors from near and far.
