The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has expelled a former special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang, over allegations of anti-party activities.

The decision was made by the state Working Committee of the APC, which ratified the recommendations of the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

According to a letter signed by the state party Chairman, Obong Leo Steven Ntukekpo, the expulsion was based on a petition detailing Enang’s alleged anti-party activities, which was submitted to the state leadership of the party by his ward chairman in Eastern Ward 2, Ibiono Local Government Area.

The letter alleged that Enang had been holding secret meetings with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with the aim of undermining the APC’s chances in the upcoming election and had done so against the party’s directives.

It is also said that after the state governorship primaries, Enang had allegedly enmeshed the candidate, Obong Akan Udofia, in a flurry of legal actions at various courts in Abuja and Uyo, until recently when the Court of Appeal in a landmark ruling affirmed Udofia as the valid candidate of the party for the March 11th governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.
