On December 18, 2022, soccer superstar Lionel Messi made Instagram history with a post featuring photos of him and his teammates celebrating their victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The post, which was shared on Messi’s personal Instagram account, quickly became a hit, racking up 10 million likes in just 39 minutes.

The following day, the post reached a new milestone, becoming the most-liked Instagram post in the first 24 hours of its sharing.

The post garnered an impressive 50 million likes, making it the most-liked post ever for a sportsperson and breaking the previous record held by Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s photo with Messi, which was shared on November 19, 2022, had received 42 million likes.

On December 20, 2022, the post reached an even greater milestone, surpassing the record previously held by the infamous “egg” photo and reaching a staggering 56 million likes.
