Zenith Bank Clinches Best Commercial Bank in Nigeria for Third Consecutive Year

For the third consecutive year, Zenith Bank Plc has been named the Best Commercial Bank in Nigeria at the prestigious World Finance Banking Awards 2023.

The bank’s remarkable achievements were further recognized as it was also crowned the Best Corporate Governance Bank, Nigeria, at the World Finance Corporate Governance Awards 2023, marking its second consecutive win in this category.

The prestigious awards were presented to Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, during a distinguished ceremony held at the London Stock Exchange. The bank’s consistent and exceptional performance in financial operations, financial inclusion, corporate governance, and sustainability were lauded and celebrated.

Dr. Onyeagwu expressed his delight at receiving the awards, stating that, “these awards are a testament to our resilience and ability to adapt to the vagaries of the market as well as our innate capability to engender very stellar business performances through our innovative products and solutions. It also affirms our continued commitment to global best practices in corporate governance, sustainability and corporate social responsibility.”

The Group Managing Director dedicated the prestigious awards to the Founder and Group Chairman, Jim Ovia, CFR, acknowledging him for his mentorship and for establishing a solid foundation for a resilient and highly successful institution.

He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the board for their exceptional leadership, vision, and foresight, as well as to the dedicated staff and loyal customers for making Zenith Bank their preferred banking partner.

World Finance, a leading international magazine renowned for its in-depth coverage and analysis of the financial industry, international business, and the global economy, hosted the event. The magazine’s prestigious awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions from organizations across various sectors.

Zenith Bank’s exceptional track record of excellence continues to earn the brand numerous accolades. These latest awards follow a string of prestigious recognitions, including being named the Number One Bank in Nigeria by Tier-1 Capital for the 14th consecutive year in The Banker Magazine’s 2023 Top 1000 World Banks Ranking. The bank was also honored as the Bank of the Year (Nigeria) in The Banker’s Bank of the Year Awards for 2020 and 2022.

Furthermore, Zenith Bank was crowned the Best Bank in Nigeria for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022 in the Global Finance World’s Best Banks Awards. The bank has also earned the title of “Best in Corporate Governance, Financial Services, Africa” for four successive years from 2020 to 2023 by the Ethical Boardroom.

The bank’s commitment to sustainability was acknowledged as it received the title of “Most Sustainable Bank, Nigeria” in the International Banker 2023 Banking Awards. In addition to these achievements, Zenith Bank was recognized with awards such as “Best Commercial Bank, Nigeria” and “Best Innovation In Retail Banking, Nigeria” in the International Banker 2022 Banking Awards.

Zenith Bank’s exceptional reputation was further solidified when it was named the Most Valuable Banking Brand in Nigeria in the Banker Magazine Top 500 Banking Brands for both 2020 and 2021. The bank has consistently received accolades, including being named the Retail Bank of the Year for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022 at the BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.

The bank has also been honored with prestigious titles such as Bank of the Decade (People’s Choice) at the ThisDay Awards 2020, Bank of the Year 2021 by Champion Newspaper, Bank of the Year 2022 by New Telegraph Newspaper, and Most Responsible Organization in Africa 2021 by SERAS Awards.
