Yobe State Govt. Restrict Vehicular Movement For Eid-el-Kabir

The Yobe state government has announced restrictions on the movement of vehicles from 10 p.m on Thursday to 11 a.m on Friday as Muslims in the state celebrate Eid el-Kabir.

Information on the restriction is in a statement by Abdullahi Bego, the Director of Press to Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam.

According to Bego, the move “is to ensure the safety and security of people across the state as we mark Eid-el-Kabir”.

The statement said “His Excellency, Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam has approved the restriction on vehicular movement from 10 p.m. tonight (Thursday night) until 11 a.m. on Friday.

“The public is also advised that no vehicle, except those on official duty and with valid security clearance, will be allowed in or around Eid prayer grounds.”

The statement further stated that the decision was taken with security agencies and other stakeholders.

“The Yobe state government takes this measure in consultation with the heads of security and law enforcement agencies to ensure smooth, secure and hitch-free Eid prayers.”

“The state government advised the public to cooperate with security agents within the restriction period to avoid negative repercussions.”
