Former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Nasiru El-Rufai has blamed the ”backwardnes” of the nation on the choices of late President Umaru Yar’adua and Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna state.

He accussed both past heroes of choosing inadequate deputies and making their nation and state badly governed.

The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC revealed this in an Hausa political phone in programme held on DITV/Alheri Radio, on Saturday in Kaduna.

He claimed that his selection of Barnabas Bantex as his deputy running partner was done after thorough consultation with party members.

He said that instead of behaving like the others and choosing a running mate he would manipulate, he choose a competent deputy who could take over in case of any unforseen situation.

Mr. El-Rufai Said: “The crisis of underdevelopment and non-performance that we are experiencing at the federal level and Kaduna state will not have arisen if the right calibre of running mates were chosen from the very beginning”.

According to him, since Yakowa’s death, Kadunna state has not witnessed any development.

He said that despite Yero’s administration claims of executing projects, nothing has been done in the state.

He said: “the people of the state have not seen anything on the round.” He pointed out that the projects in states like Kano, Katsina, Zamfara and Nasarawa are visible for all to see.

“The few of the projects that the government has executed are so inflated and shoddily done that they do not justify the money that was spent on them,” the former Minister pointed out.

Mr. El-Rufai who is also a Quantity Surveyor said that the office complex within Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the Kaduna state seat of power, which cost N9 billion could not rival the Ekiti Government House which cost N2 billion.

El-rufai hailed his running mate, Bantex as a detribalised Nigerian and someone who can unite the party, he revealed that they have known each other since their school days.
