Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has taken to Instagram to announce his latest album titled ‘Morayo’ while rejecting the label of an Afrobeats artiste.

In a series of posts on his Instagram stories Friday night, the Grammy-winning artist, renowned for hits like ‘Ojuelegba’, made it clear that his upcoming project is not tailored for fans of Afrobeats, urging them not to download the album if they identify as such.

“Album name ‘Morayo’ best I ever made. I am not an Afrobeats artistes. Don’t call me that,” Wizkid stated emphatically.

Wizkid chose to christen the album ‘Morayo’ after his late mother, Mrs. Juliana Morayo Balogun, who passed away on August 18, 2023, in London.
