Wizkid-1

History was made today as Wizkid became the first indigenous Nigerian music artiste to score a Number 1 hit on the US definitive singles chart – The Billboard Hot 100 ,with his feature on Drake’s – One Dance.

Another artiste of Nigerian descent who scored a Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 is Seal (Kiss From A Rose – 1994) but he is British/Nigerian & doesn’t even publicly claim his Nigerian side…so he sure as hell doesn’t count!

One Dance was Number 2 last week and has now climbed to Number 1 for the week of May 21, which means it is the Number 1 Record in the world!

One Dance is also Drake’s first Billboard Number 1 single as a Lead Artiste. Every artiste knows the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Charts is the only music chart that matters!

I see Wizkid getting a Grammy next year for his work on Drake’s Views, for which he is also listed as a producer.
