Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that he remains undistracted by the ongoing conflict with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Speaking on Friday during an inspection of various projects slated for inauguration in celebration of President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, Wike emphasized his focus on his ministerial duties.

The former governor of Rivers State made it clear that the turmoil back home has not hindered his performance as the FCT minister.

“I am not distracted. If I’m distracted, you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. I am the Minister of the FCT, and the works are going on. So, why would I be distracted? I don’t even think about it all,” Wike told reporters.

The tension between Wike and Governor Fubara began in October 2023, triggered by impeachment proceedings initiated by some lawmakers against Fubara. Despite intervention efforts by President Tinubu, the conflict has persisted. Recently, five Commissioners loyal to Wike resigned from the Rivers State Executive Council, further intensifying the dispute.
