The ongoing coroner inquest in Ikorodu, investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Nigerian music star Mohbad, saw a significant development as the late singer’s wife, Omowunmi, provided her testimony.

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away on September 12 and was laid to rest the following day, sparking a series of controversies and speculations.

During the court session on Tuesday, Omowunmi narrated the events leading up to her husband’s demise.

She recounted an incident where Mohbad had a scuffle with his friend, Primeboy, during a show in Ikorodu, resulting in a minor injury to his elbow.

Wunmi explained that her husband’s hand had begun to swell, prompting the intervention of a nurse who had been treating Mohbad for the past two years.

However, she alleged that after the nurse administered an injection, Mohbad started feeling uncomfortable.

Furthermore, Omowunmi highlighted the psychological impact of a previous encounter with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on her late husband.

She claimed that Mohbad was reluctant to seek medical attention due to an incident in February 2022, during which he was allegedly assaulted by NDLEA officers, causing him to develop a fear of hospitals.

She expressed concerns about the alleged mistreatment by the NDLEA, stating, “I was beaten and pushed inside the gutter because I confronted and questioned the NDLEA why they harassed my husband. The NDLEA gave him substance, and ever since then, he has not been himself.”
