The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commenced a nationwide protest to express grievances over the prevailing economic challenges faced by Nigerians.

Protesters gathered early Tuesday morning at two significant locations: the Labour House in Abuja and the Ikeja under-bridge in Lagos, to kick off the demonstrations.

Chanting solidarity songs and slogans, the demonstrators voiced their concerns about the economic hardship experienced by ordinary citizens.

In Lagos, the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, was present to monitor the situation, ensuring the peaceful conduct of the protest in the nation’s commercial capital.

At the forefront of the rally in Abuja were Joe Ajaero, President of the NLC, and Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election.

Addressing the crowd, Ajaero emphasized the widespread hunger and hardship experienced across the country.

“There is hunger in the land. We are hungry. There is nobody that doesn’t know this. Our rally is a peaceful one,” he stated.
