WAEC Appoints ‘Isaac Adenipekun’ as New Head Of National Office

The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has appointed Mr Isaac Adenipekun as its new Head of National Office.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer of the council, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

Adenipekun’s appointment is coming on the heels of the retirement of Mr Charles Eguridu, the immediate past head of national office.

Eguridu retired from the service of the council on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Adenipekun, hails from Osun State and graduated from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) in 1983.

The statement said that Adenipekun bagged a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Political Science and also obtained an M.Sc degree in International Relations from the same university in 1987.

It said that the new WAEC boss in Nigeria joined the services of the body on Oct. 3, 1989, as an Assistant Registrar II.

The statement added that he rose through the ranks to become Senior Assistant Registrar in 2000 and a Principal Assistant Registrar in 2005.

According to the statement, Adenipekun was promoted to the rank of a Deputy Registrar in 2011.

It said that he had held several positions of accountability in the council and had distinguished himself as a primus inter pares (a first among equals).

The statement said that he was Head, Meetings and General Services Department, WAEC, from February 1996-January 2001.

It said Adenipekun assumed office as the Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC on Dec. 9.

The statement said that until his appointment as Head of National Office, he was the zonal coordinator, WAEC Zonal Office, Ibadan.

According to the statement, Adenipekun is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (FCAI) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM). (NAN)
