As the re-run of the governorship is election in Taraba State is ongoing, massive turn out of registered voters is being recorded.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are said to have reported at polling units in  Turaki, Jalingo and Lankaviri in Yorro council areas of the state as early as 8.00am.

Reports say security agents are heavily stationed in Jalingo, the state capital to forestall possible violence.

Residents are expected to adhere to the 8am to 5pm restriction of movement announced by the Police on Friday, April 24, as a measure to prevent breakdown of law and order.

Following the April 11 gubernatorial election in the state, which was declared inconclusive due to irregularities in some area, 218 polling units across the 10 Local Government of the state are now holding fresh election.

The major challengers in the gubernatorial race are Senator Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress, the former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Ishaku of the People’s Democratic Party, and David Kente of Social Democratic Party, a retired Director of Finance from the National Assembly.
