Local vigilantes in the Dansadau District of Maru, Zamfara State, has reportedly killed at least 30 armed bandits in an ambush on Thursday, April 4th. Intelligence sources cited by counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama stated the Yansakai vigilante group intercepted the bandits, who were en route to attack a nearby village, around 2 pm.

okay.ng reports that a heavy exchange of fire resulted in the bandits’ deaths, and 16 motorcycles allegedly used by them were recovered. In a separate incident that same day, the body of abducted Community Protection Guard member Ashiru Dawa was found in the Gidan Kano area.

His remains were taken for autopsy before burial. These events underscore the persistent security issues in Zamfara State, where local vigilantes are increasingly arming themselves to protect their communities from repeated bandit attacks.
