President Bola Tinubu has tasked Vice President Kashim Shettima with leading a presidential delegation to the highly anticipated final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, Okay.ng reports.

This was disclosed by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Office of the Vice-President, underscores the government’s commitment to rallying behind the Super Eagles in their quest for continental glory.

Scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 11, the final showdown will see the Nigerian national team face off against hosts Côte d’Ivoire at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

It marks a rematch between the two teams, following Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over the hosts in the group stage, secured through Captain William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.

Nkwocha emphasized Tinubu’s belief that Shettima’s presence at the final, alongside the presidential delegation, serves as a powerful symbol of the government’s unwavering support for the Super Eagles and its dedication to their success on the continental stage.

“The Federal Government calls on all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to unite in support of the Super Eagles,” Nkwocha stated.

“The government also enjoins all Nigerians to raise their voices in encouragement and create a wave of national pride that will propel the team to glory.”

Shettima, who represented Tinubu at the semi-final where the Eagles emerged victorious against South Africa in a pulsating encounter, is expected to lead the delegation in showcasing Nigeria’s solidarity and fervent support for its national team as they vie for AFCON glory.
