Troops of the Nigerian Army, I Division, have successfully rescued 16 abducted victims in Kajuru, Kaduna State, while thwarting a kidnap attempt by an extremist group.

According to a statement by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, the rescue operation took place in Tantatu Community of Kajuru Local Government Area following intelligence received by the troops on Sunday night.

Upon arriving at the scene, the troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight, resulting in the successful rescue of the abducted individuals.
