A camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Dikwa LGA, Borno state was on Friday attacked by two suicide bombers, leaving at least eight people dead and many injured.

This was confirmed by the deputy director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Onyeama Nwachukwu.

He said the camp was infiltrated by the bombers.

“Yes, it is regrettable that two female suicide bombers tried to infiltrate IDP camp in Dikwa, where troops tried to stop them and they refused. Troops shot them, but the IEDs strapped on their body exploded.”

He added that men of the Nigerian Army have discovered a bomb factory in Kote village of Bama LGA where the insurgents are believed to manufacture IEDs.

“It is fortunate for us and unfortunate for the insurgents as the IEDs exploded, killing one insurgent while trying to make a bomb in the factory. The explosion drew the attention of troops who moved to the area and discovered the factory,” he said.

The incident was corroborated by the chairman of the council, Alhaji Rawa Modu, on Saturday in a talk with journalists.

He said “Two female suicide bombers attacked the 24 Housing estate at about 9:30 p.m on Friday.
