In Salka, Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, a land dispute between the Kambaris and Fulanis has resulted in the deaths of no less than two people Okay.ng gathered

The incident happened on Tuesday, according to Salka resident Dangwere Musa, who also said that fighting between the two groups resulted in the loss of lives and property.

The police station and the home of the village chief were destroyed in the struggle between the Kambaris and the Fulanis over a piece of land that both groups claim to be their own.

Over 30 of the Fulani people’s huts were also destroyed by fire as a result, so they are not left out either.

He claimed that the conflict started as a result of some Fulanis purchasing land in a Kambari community that they did not feel comfortable with.

He added that although the disputing parties intended to resolve their differences through mediation, they ended up fighting instead, resulting in casualties and property damage.

“This issue has been going on since some Fulani people bought land, and our people decided to go and resolve it since they were not happy about it.”

A battle ensued after one of the Fulanis injured a man on the other side with his cutlass while trying to resolve the conflict.
