One of Boko Haram’s notorious commanders, Abu Mojahid, has been killed alongside some other members of the sect in an encounter with troops in the outskirt of Alagarno forest, Borno State on Tuesday April 21, military official said.

The Director of Defence Information, Major Gen Chris Olukolade, made the revelation on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in a statement.

“A notorious top terrorists commander, Abu Mojahid, was among the terrorists that died in their encounter with troops in the outskirt of Alagarno on Tuesday morning,” Olukolade revealed.

According to him, offensive action continues on identified terrorists, to smoke them out of their hidden caves in some forests.

“Aggressive patrols, mopping up as well as cordon and search are also continuing in the other locations in search of weapons and terrorists. Improvised Explosive Devices planted by the terrorists to deter the comprehensive offensive by the advancing troops are also being carefully cleared as troops continue to pursue fleeing ones,” he said.
