FC Managing Director Armin Veh states: “Benno is a very talented player who is calm on the ball, technically fine, and good in opening up the game. We believe he can fill our need on the right side of defense for us.”

Benno Schmitz states: “For me it was important to transfer to a club where I can develop and play regularly. FC Köln is a traditional club with passionate fans in a great city. I am very happy that the transfer was able to take place and I can hardly wait to get started with my new team.”
