Tragedy struck in the Ikosi area of Lagos State as two male factory workers lost their lives after falling into a diesel reservoir.

According to a statement by Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), preliminary investigations revealed that one of the workers accidentally fell into the reservoir while on duty. The second worker reportedly fell in while attempting to rescue his colleague.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the men (an adult) accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir while working. The second worker, in an attempt to rescue this colleague, also fell into the reservoir,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.

Emergency responders from LASEMA and the fire service were deployed to the scene and successfully rescued both men. The workers were given first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), before being transported to a hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).
