The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a call to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to review and reduce the costs of fuel, electricity tariffs, and other essential services. This appeal, delivered by PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba in Abuja, comes as Nigerians mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The PDP emphasized the urgent need for the government to address policies that are adversely affecting citizens, especially in light of the current economic, security, and social challenges. The party called on Tinubu to use his remaining two years in office to prioritize the well-being of Nigerians, aligning his leadership with the spirit of selflessness and submission to God, as exemplified by Eid-el-Kabir.
In its statement, the PDP also encouraged Nigerians to remain patriotic and hopeful, urging them to share with one another and pray for divine intervention. “The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time, and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation,” the party stated.
Furthermore, the PDP called on national leaders to use the Eid-el-Kabir occasion to embrace the fear of God, tackle insecurity, fight corruption, and ensure the recovery of stolen public funds. The party insisted that such recovered resources should be directed towards critical infrastructure, revitalizing the productive sector, and strengthening security agencies.
Extending festive greetings to all Nigerians, the PDP wished the nation a joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, reinforcing the message of unity, faith, and resilience in the face of adversity.
