National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has been named as a prime suspect in the murder of former Lagos Governorship candidate, Funsho Williams.

A man who was initially detained for the murder, Bashir Junaid, has petitioned the Federal High Court in Lagos to re-open the suit and has been granted an order to serve Tinubu the legal papers by substituted means, ThisDay reports.

Junaid is seeking to compel the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Suleiman Abba to re-open investigations into Williams’ murder.

The plaintiff, a former cemetery attendant, was detained for about one year in connection with the killing, but later released.

Other defendants in the case are then IG of police, Sunday Ehindero, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in the murder case, Attorney-General of the Federation at the time, Modupe Shasore, Peoples Democratic Party, Muiz Banire, Babatunde Edu, Dele Alake and Oladele Ajomale.

The case has been adjourned till April 29 for hearing.

Williams was killed on July 27, 2006 at his Dolphin Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
