Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Sacks Five Ministers, Reassigns 10, and Appoints Seven New Nominees

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers, reassigned 10 others to new portfolios, and nominated seven new ministers for Senate confirmation.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, signaling the president’s efforts to streamline and bolster the effectiveness of his administration.

Among those relieved of their duties are:

  • Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs,
  • Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism,
  • Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education,
  • Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, and
  • Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.

Additionally, the President appointed Shehu Dikko as the new Chairman of the National Sports Commission and Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation, a role he will execute from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

President Tinubu has submitted the names of seven new ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, including:

  • Dr. Nentawa Yilwatda for Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction,
  • Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment,
  • Bianca Odimegu-Ojukwu for Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The names of the seven newly nominated ministers have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation, marking the next phase in the president’s cabinet restructuring.
