President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deep condolences to the family of the late Onyeka Onwenu, a renowned Nigerian singer, songwriter, actor, journalist, activist, and politician. The President mourned the passing of the legendary artiste, who was fondly referred to as the “Queen of Songs”.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu celebrated Onwenu’s life and legacy, highlighting her contributions to the entertainment industry and her impact on society through her music.

He particularly noted her iconic song “One Love”, which promoted unity and harmony in the 1990s, as well as her collaboration with King Sunny Ade on “Wait for Me”, a song that advocated for family planning in the 1980s.

The President condoled with the entertainment industry, the Imo State Government, and Onwenu’s numerous fans over the loss, praying for the repose of her soul. He also acknowledged that Onwenu’s immortal masterpieces will continue to live on, ensuring her legacy endures.
