President Bola Tinubu has expressed heartfelt condolences to former President Goodluck Jonathan following the demise of his sister, Obebhatein Jonathan.

Tinubu conveyed his sympathies through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu condoles with Dr. Goodluck Jonathan over sister’s passing,’ extended the president’s deepest condolences to the Jonathan family.

Obebhatein, affectionately known as Amissi, was a teacher, businesswoman, mother, and grandmother. She passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a brief illness at the age of 70.

Describing Obebhatein, Jonathan’s media office noted that she was a devout Christian, a virtuous woman, and a role model to many within and outside her community.

The burial has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, with details of the funeral rites to be announced by the family.

President Tinubu urged former President Jonathan to find solace in the enduring legacy of Amissi, who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.

He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and comfort for all those mourning this painful loss.
