President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to his longtime ally and former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as he celebrates his 68th birthday. In a statement released on Saturday and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Osinbajo for his dedication and service to Nigeria.

Osinbajo, a Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, served as Vice President from 2015 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu highlighted Osinbajo’s collaborative efforts with Buhari, which he said resulted in good governance and the delivery of critical infrastructural projects across the country.

“Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate,” Tinubu stated. “He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari. He made all of us in the All Progressives Congress proud by working collaboratively and harmoniously with the president without rancour.”

Tinubu also recalled Osinbajo’s exemplary performance when he briefly acted as President during Buhari’s medical vacation in the United Kingdom. He described Osinbajo as a close ally, friend, and brother, noting their successful partnership during Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State Governor. As Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Osinbajo played a key role in implementing political and judicial reforms in the state.

The President acknowledged Osinbajo’s decision to contest for the APC presidential ticket in 2023, describing it as an exercise of his democratic rights. Tinubu expressed his best wishes for Osinbajo’s continued health and success, joining his family, friends, and associates in celebrating the milestone.

“I join his family, particularly his wife Dolapo and children, friends, and associates in wishing the erudite professor many more years of good health and a future filled with continued success and achievements,” Tinubu said.
