Tinubu Approves 5 New Private Varsities in South West, 6 Others in South-South, South East and North

On Monday, March 3, 2025 his excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the creation of 11 new private universities in Nigeria, 5 in South West and 6 others in the South-South, South East and Northern part of the country respectively.

This was disclose via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser, Media & Public Communication/Spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu.

He stated: “President Tinubu today approved provisional licenses for 11 private Universities in Nigeria. At today’s FEC meeting the following Private Universities were approved”:

  1. New City University, Ayetoro Ogun State (South West)
  2. University of Fortune, igbotako, Ondo State (South West)
  3. Eranova University, Mabushi (Abuja, North)
  4. Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun Annex (South West)
  5. Abubakar Toyin University, oke-Agba, Kwara State (North Central)
  6. Southern Atlantic University Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (South-South)
  7. Lens University, ilemona, Kwara State (North Central)
  8. Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State (South West)
  9. Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City (Southern Nigeria)
  10. Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos (South West)
  11. Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo, Enugu State (South East)
    “President Tinubu is Committed to expanding the frontiers of Educational opportunities and infrastructure”, the statement reads.

President Tinubu today approved provisional licenses for 11 private Universities in Nigeria. At today's FEC meeting the following Private Universities were approved :
