Three people have reportedly lost their lives in car crash that occurred on Third Mainland Bridge earlier today.

Ynaija reports that the incident has caused gridlock traffic on the ever busy connecting bridge between Lagos Mainland and the Island.

It was gathered that the accident which involved a Black Prado Jeep, left the three occupants of the car dead.

Witnesses said the driver of the jeep is trapped inside the mangled vehicle with efforts being made to extricate him.

The cause of the accident has not been ascertained but sources say the vehicle lost one of its tyres while on high speed making the driver lose control of the jeep and rammed into median/ road demarcation.

As at press time, traffic officials were seen trying to control the heavy traffic on the bridge.

It would be recalled that the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) some days ago said no fewer than 120 persons were killed in road accidents across the country between December 19 and 28, 2014, as the festive season was ongoing.
